A rare look inside prison and an intimate look inside violence out on the streets, “Through The Walls: A San Quentin Film” bridges the gap between those on the outside and in. In an effort to combat violence and downplay recidivism, a group of inmates inside San Quentin State Prison came together with outside performers to put on a seminal concert inside. Emphasizing the power of positive lyrics, the historical performance sought to change people’s mindsets through the walls of America’s most notorious prison. The film features outside rapper and anti-violence advocate 25-year-old Bobby “Blu Nose” Hall, who was shot and killed three months to the day following the concert.
